Regulating a pocket watch
Old mechanical watches are susceptible to environmental changes and positioning. From time to time adjustment may be necessary. The Images below show 3 variations of the Bosley type regulator which are common in watches after 1820's and a Thompion type regulator seen on earlier movements.

Bosley Type
To adjust the Bosley type regulator, use the tip of your finger to move the regulator left or right. Movements should be very small. To adjust the Thompion type, insert the winding key and turn left or right again with very small adjustments.
